Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been backed by Jamie Carragher for his claim that Chelsea have the strongest team in the Premier League this season.
Liverpool are currently second in the table, tied on points with leader Tottenham Hotspur, and two ahead of Frank Lampard’s side, which they beat 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the opening weeks of the season.
Chelsea have not been beaten in the Premier League since and, having spent over £ 200 million in the summer to bring in players like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy, they are talked about as hopeful credible title.
Ahead of last weekend’s games, Jurgen Klopp claimed that Chelsea are the favorite to lift the title this season, saying: “For me Chelsea at the moment seem like the favorite with a bigger team and after a I start a little rusty, now it’s completely inside.
“They have incredible opportunities to change the team from game to game.
“We watch them, but we don’t chase them. We play them when we play them. That’s how we saw it last season as well.”
However, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has rejected Klopp’s claims, insisting his team is a work in progress despite his significant summer hire.
Teamtalk reports that the former England midfielder responded to Klopp’s suggestion by saying: “I’m not sure anyone really did.
“I think Liverpool and Manchester City seem to be everyone’s favorites, when they perform the way they have done for the last three years, building the teams that they have in the last few years. Very well.
“Even with the injuries, you look at the Liverpool team, the team they got out last night (against Wolves), they get by with those injuries. They have a great squad and most Premier League teams do.
“Tottenham is in the equation, as is Manchester United and also others at the moment. It’s very narrow. “
When asked if he thought Klopp was trying to play mind games, Lampard said: “I don’t know, but you can have your opinion.
“I think it’s pretty clear where we are. We are in good shape at the moment, but as I keep saying, we have players who have entered, some younger players and players who have just made it to the Premier League.
“Teams like City and Liverpool have been very successful with very established players in positions who have performed at a really high level in the Premier League.
“So we are trying to come in and achieve that, and that requires a lot of consistency in the coming months.”

However, former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports defender Jamie Carragher agreed with Klopp’s point of view and has Chelsea as the number one contender for this year’s Premier League crown from his former club.
“If I watch football games right now, Chelsea, to me, looks like a favorite,” Carragher said on Monday Night Football, the Express reports.
“They have the biggest team, great players playing well together after a rusty start, and they are full.
“They have incredible opportunities to switch in games and make changes from game to game, so that’s it.

“You could argue now that they are perhaps as strong a team as any other in the Premier League.
“It could be argued, not argued, I think it is a fact that perhaps Manchester City and Liverpool have a stronger eleven.
“But in terms of substitute players right now, and other teams getting injured, certainly Liverpool, that [Chelsea’s] The strength of the team is absolutely fantastic.
“And it doesn’t seem like the team gets too weak no matter who’s playing.”
Liverpool have won all three Premier League meetings with Chelsea since Lampard became manager in the summer of 2019, with the following teams meeting at Anfield in March.
