Leicester midfielder James Maddison was enraged after ‘armpit hair’ denied him a goal in his team’s 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham on Sunday.
The Foxes had taken the lead just before halftime when Jamie Vardy clinically dispatched himself from the spot after Serge Aurier stormed Wesley Fofana.
Brendan Rodgers ‘men thought they had doubled their lead three minutes after the break when right-back James Justin played a ball over the Spurs’ backline.
Maddison held on to the pass and took a bunt before launching a shot brilliantly through Hugo Lloris and into the far corner.
However, that familiar dread felt by the league’s scorers flared up again when the VAR reviewed the goal for a possible offside.
After drawing several lines, Stockley Park requested that Craig Pawson come closer to the monitor and the referee finally decided that the score should remain 1-0.
The visitors finally scored their second goal when Vardy’s header hit Toby Alderweireld and passed Hugo Lloris for an embarrassing own goal.
Despite the three points, Maddison was still a bit upset by the decision and took to Twitter to vent his discontent.
‘Yes sir. A result that was totally deserved from the performance, ‘he wrote. ‘VAR get out of my life man, out here removing festive goals because my armpit hair was out of play.
The result brought Leicester to second place in the table and they will face Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day.
