Lauren James is Manchester United’s all-time top scorer in the WSL
Manchester United forward Lauren James has received her first senior international call-up for England’s upcoming training camp.
James, 19, has impressed Lionesses boss Phil Neville with his performances in the Women’s Super League for United.
Manchester City midfielder Laura Coombs returns to the team after making her last appearance for the Leonas in 2015.
Liverpool’s Rinsola Babajide and Arsenal’s Lotte Wubben-Moy receive their second senior call-up.
England will begin their final 10-day training camp at St George’s Park on November 22.
Their friendly against Norway, which was to take place on December 1 in Sheffield, was canceled because their opponents were unable to travel due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Instead, the team will split in half at camp and play two internal training games.
“It has been a challenging time for everyone, but it will be good to end the year with an intensive training camp during which the team will develop further and each player has the opportunity to prove themselves,” said Neville.
“I am delighted to give Lauren James her first senior call-up. She is an exciting young player that we want to help develop further. She joins the team along with many other young players that we have featured in the last few months.
“Laura Coombs is a player that I have seen a lot this season and I have been very impressed with her progression in the game.
“This camp will give us another excellent opportunity to integrate young and promising players with our experienced internationals and align everyone in the long-term vision of the team.”
