Italian companies in Ghana are seeking alliances with member countries of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to increase their presence on the African continent.

According to the Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency, Alessandro Gerbino, Italy has advanced technology to support companies on the African continent.

He spoke at a tasting event for Italy’s best wines in Accra.

“It is a very great opportunity for foreign companies and local companies because the scope that each company can achieve will be increasing. And our proposal to the stage is to partner because we are a very large manufacturer “.

“Italy is not a particularly rich country in natural resources, Ghana is, what we are good at is transforming things, we have good technology and we can use it outside of Italy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Italy’s ambassador to Ghana, Daniela d’Orlandi, says that trade relations between Italy and Ghana are expected to grow in the coming years as the coronavirus pandemic is brought under control.

“Within the embassy facilities, we have an Italian commercial agency that aims to promote relations between Italian and Ghanaian companies, access to training, marketing skills, finance and develop joint projects also with local entities such as the Ghana Investment Promotion Center and others. “

“The Global Alliance on Vaccines and Immunization has compiled a list of 92 countries that Ghana is part of for vaccine access and Italy is very supportive. So we hope that next year the situation around the world will improve and our mutual trade relations will improve, ”he said.

The Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) organized the event ‘Aperitivo in Giardino’, (‘Aperitif in the garden’), on the occasion of the 5th Week of Italian Cuisine in Ghana.
