The polls on December 7 will not go by the standard bearers of the two main political parties; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) and John Dramani Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to political analyst Michael Ebo Amoah, the dynamics of this year’s polls are different from 2016, so no political party, especially the NDC and the NPP, should take elections for granted or be complacent.
“… It is a matter of life and death because both the current president and the former president have defeated themselves before, explained in Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com
He was reacting to recent comments made by Sammi Awuku, the National Organizer of the PNP, who admitted that the 2020 elections and victory for the PNP will not come on a silver platter, while the president and his vice have said that the elections would be easy for the country. NPP considering your achievements.
Michael Ebo Amoah, therefore, says that any individual who thinks that the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections will be easy is either a joker or not a serious politician.
It should be remembered that Sammi Awuku recognized last week that retaining power is an uphill task for the party.
He added that that is the reason why the president and his vice are campaigning as if they were in the opposition fighting for power.
This was announced when he spoke at the official launch of the ‘Aspirantes Unidos por la Victoria’, a group made up of parliamentary candidates who lost in the PNP parliamentary primaries. The young politician said “for me, fighting for re-election is more difficult than fighting from the opposition and that is why we need everyone on the PNP ship to make sure they cross on December 7, 2020.
“Victory will not come on a silver platter and that is why the president and vice president are campaigning as if we were in the opposition.”
For him, the party does not have to leave a stone unturned while campaigning to retain power because every vote counts if they will retain power after the 2020 elections.
