Chelsea interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni

According to ESPNChelsea have long been considered a huge fan of AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni. Thomas Tuchel could make him his first signing at the club should he want to add to his midfield options for next season.

A youth product of Girondins Bordeaux, Tchouameni started at SJ D’Artigues in 2006 and spent five years there. After that, he moved to the Bordeaux academy and continued his development. In 2017, he was promoted to the B side of Bordeaux, but due to his rapid progress, he was taken to the senior team within one season.

During the following season and a half, he made 37 appearances for the team. He left for AS Monaco in January last year and has established himself as a vital player in the team since then, with 31 appearances to date.

Given that Chelsea spent a staggering amount in the summer window, attracting a bunch of players, it doesn’t really look like Tuchel might need many signings. People like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell came for a lot of money. That has left Chelsea’s new manager Thomas Tuchel with a large squad at the moment.

Nonetheless, Chelsea tend to find the best possible young talents around the world and sign them. Aurelien Tchouameni belongs to the same category. The French midfielder came to the fore this season with his exploits in Monaco’s defensive midfield. Despite his young age, he has shown immense skill with his contributions in the heart of midfield.

More news from Chelsea:

With Chelsea already having a midfield unit stacked with players like N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, Billy Gilmour, Tchouameni, at 21, could be a future signing.

Since the club would be looking to bring him in in the summer, it would give the player more time to develop his skills and get regular playing time. That would give Tuchel a well-rounded, experienced player to work with, should she decide to pursue him.
