The Election Commission has urged the general public to ignore the falsehoods being sold on social media regarding the special voting exercise.

According to the EC, most of the errors involved incorrect digits from the voter’s identification card.
“In most cases, the digits on the voter identification cards were less than or greater than ten (10), which is the legitimate number of digits on the voter identification card.”
However, the Commission reached out to those who provided phone numbers and corrected the incorrect information submitted.
This category of people was reflected in the Final Special Voters List, the EC said.
The EC further denied allegations that applicants who had requested the Special Voting but whose names were not registered in the Special Voter Registry due to the fact that their identification card numbers were not valid, could not vote during the Elections of the December 7th. .
According to the Commission, the claim is false and must be rejected.
