The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed claims that some thumb-printed ballots have been discovered in the Ashanti region.
According to the Commission, it has taken note of a video circulating on social networks alleging that they show printed ballots in favor of the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (PNP), Nana Akufo-Addo.
The EC indicated that their ballots have unique security features, which the ballots did not contain.
“Commission ballot papers have several security features, most notably unique serial numbers. Additionally, all Commission serial numbers allow them to begin with the number zero (0). However. the alleged ‘ballots’ in the video begin with the number one (1) and not zero (0). ”
“Therefore, we wish to state categorically that the ‘ballots’ shown in the video are false and in no way, form or form the original ballot papers of the Election Commission. We ask the general public to ignore this fake video deliberately calculated to tarnish the integrity and credibility of the polls. ”
The Electoral Management Body noted that “the 2020 general elections that were observed by various local and international organizations have been hailed worldwide as free, fair, credible, transparent and peaceful.”
