A member of the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to ignore the MP’s advice that Tamale Central declare himself president-elect and form a parallel government.
Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare said that Ghana, as a country, is governed by a constitution that provides a clear process for questioning election results.
Therefore, Mr. Mahama must act in accordance with the law and “ignore the bad advice of the Honorable Inusah Fuseini”.
Tamale Central MP Inusah Fuseini in an interview stated that the Electoral Commission’s verdict is not a faithful representation of the Ghanaians’ election on December 7.
In that sense, he urged the former president to declare himself president and form a parallel government.
However, the teacher does not agree with this statement.
“There is no place to form a parallel government in this country. We operate under a Constitution and it provides a clear process for contesting election results.
“Similarly, it hurts the Republic when members of the NDC party refer to his excellence as president-elect,” he added.
He explained that “only the person certified as the winner of the elections is the President-elect and in this case it is President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
