The standard bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, called on Ghanaians on Thursday to hold President Nana Akufo-Addo accountable for his 2016 campaign promises.

According to him, voters will make a decision on December 7 based on trust and what the top two candidates delivered in office and not on emotions.

The NDC leader was responding to President Akufo-Addo’s recent plea to the people of Kwame Danso, an NDC stronghold in the Sene West district of the Bono East region, not to change their voting pattern.

Mr. Mahama noted that all major development projects, including roads, electricity, water, schools, health, and other facilities in various communities, were provided to benefit the people by the NDC while he was in government. .

John Mahama, addressing a mini-durbar of Kajeji chiefs and people in the Sene East constituency, referred to the abandoned Kajeji road through Kwame Danso, linking the Atebubu Amantin-Ejura-Mampong road and said that the road would have been completed if the NDC were in charge.

He also attacked the Akufo-Addo government for its failed promises and what he called a campaign of lies, urging the people to reject Akufo-Addo and the PNP at the polls.

The NDC flag bearer assured the youth and individuals in the area of job opportunities.

He announced that Agricultural Mechanization Centers will be established throughout the country to offer better services to farmers to expand their farms and improve yields.

Mahama also urged young people to take advantage of the free TVET and vocational training opportunities that his government will offer.

According to him, beneficiaries of the National Apprenticeship Program, in addition to free skills training, will also receive starter packages to help them start their own operations.

The former president said that his promise to legalize and regulate Okada’s business will come true when he takes office in January 2021, adding that interested individuals will also be assisted to purchase motorcycles and pay in installments.

He explained that politics is a better alternative to inactive young people and will help them avoid the temptation to become criminals.

John Mahama is on a 3-day tour of the eastern Bono region.
