Popular Ghanaian clergyman Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has warned young people in Ghana to desist from sports betting if they want to eliminate poverty from their lives.

The pastor who heads the United Denomination originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches, formerly called Lighthouse Chapel International, gave invaluable advice during a sermon delivered on Sunday, December 13, 2020.

He admitted that he used to bet on races when he was very young, and knowing the demerits he got, he wants students to completely move away from sports betting.

“… When I was younger, I used to go to horse races… and you would see them coming, sometimes fifteen of them and the ones we bet on, you pick one and bet on that one. I heard the students have been gambling. Look, if you want to be poor, keep betting, ”he said.
