Pastor Mensa Otabil, general supervisor of the International Central Church of the Gospel (ICGC) says the 2020 Church Cross Service, which is scheduled for December 31, will take place virtually.
“Due to the situation we are in, the crossover will be virtually virtual; that means that the largest number of people will see us online and on television, but we will also have it in person, we know that some of you will still want to come in person, and we will make room for that, “he said in his homily on Sunday at the ICGC Temple of Christ Auditorium, Abossey Okai, Accra.
“As you know, there will be a very limited capacity both in the auditorium and in the surrounding spaces.”
He noted that the virtual crossing service would take place at the ICGC Christ Temple, Abossey Okai, Accra.
He expressed the hope that next year they would be able to return to the Plaza de la Independencia, where they generally had their Crossing Services without all the limitations they had now.
He said that the ICGC theme for 2021 was “Fertility”, and declared that “We are going to be fruitful on earth. The Lord will make us fruitful. The Lord will make us prosper. And the Lord will make us abound in all good things. ”
Dr. Otabil, speaking on the theme “How to Build in 2021”, challenged his parishioners to set goals and have a vision for the year ahead and do something great and purposeful with their lives.
Quoting from the Bible, he said: “Who of you, who intends to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, if he has enough to finish it? Lest, after he has laid the foundations and cannot finish it, everyone who looks at him will start making fun of him. ”
He said that Jesus told this parable about what was required of his disciples; affirming that the main message of this parable of Jesus was the “full commitment”.
He said that Jesus in his teachings on how to show commitment in the Christian life, taught timeless principles that apply to other areas of human life.
Dr. Otabil urged Christians to commit to doing something specific in 2021.
“In a fruitful year, how should we plan our lives? How do we face the next year? Sometimes people will say well, because of how turbulent 2020 has been, I am not even going to make any attempt to plan. ”
He said it was important to plan because only in turbulence did the plan become very effective.
“It is almost like a sea pilot, who is piloting a ship when he is piloting a ship, the ship is in turbulent waters, there are storms, there are waves, the pilot of the ship cannot say everything because of the turbulence of the waves, I will not steer this ship again, ”he said.
“It’s because of the turbulence that you need to steer the ship, so because we live in uncertain times, you can’t predict what is coming every year, you have to have a purpose in our lives because that’s the only way we deal with turbulence. that comes to us. ”
He mentioned four essential steps to achieving one’s plan or vision in life.
First of all, for you to be fruitful, you must decide what you want to do; stating that “This is where we all start. You start with a decision. Start with what you have. Start with what you want. You start with how you want things to end with you. ”
He said that in order for you to do that, you had to imagine what 2021 would be like and what the things you want would be like.
Second, he mentioned that one must have the intention for this to happen, be intentional in the decisions one makes in life.
Third, the cost of executing the plan must be counted; adding that “Assess if I have what is needed and mobilize what is needed. Go find ways to develop skills to fulfill your vision. ”
For the fourth step, Dr. Otabil said, “I must build it to completion: work and keep working.”
“We have to keep working when things are going well, we have to keep working when things get tough. We must keep working when people encourage us, we must keep working when people discourage us. We must continue working when we feel at the top; we should keep working when we feel so depressed. ”
He said that if you wanted to be fruitful and build that tower, you should keep working on it.
“You have to stay the course until the vision becomes reality,” he said.
