The presidential candidate of the Democratic National Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has said that former head of secondary school Garu Tempane will be fully reinstated into the Ghana Education Service (GES) and rewarded for his loss if the party is elected to the government. in upcoming December polls.
The NDC presidential candidate spoke at Garu as part of his three-day tour of the Upper East region.
Mr. Mahama accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of instilling fear in people who expressed opinions opposed to those of his party.
He described the government led by Akufo-Addo as “very cruel.”
Mahama said: “Ahmed Suale was killed, so far his killers have not been found, there was a journalist here in Upper East, he investigated some farmers and he had to flee for his life.
“Manasseh Azure had to flee this country and go hide in South Africa for some time until they stopped looking for him and this government is a very cruel government. This was not the case when NDC was in government, so we need to remove this government. ”
The NDC presidential candidate also noted that while some school principals wanted to express their views on the challenges their various schools face under the current government, out of fear of victimization, most of them choose to remain silent.
“And that’s the former principal of Tempane Senior High School, our National Organizer went to his school and spoke to the children, and a video was made of him talking to the children, and the children were talking about the challenges they were facing in school.
“When that video came out, they decided to victimize the director and he has been victimized, but he is proud, he is still happy and we are all proud of him because he stood his ground.
‘Most of the people have remained silent, there are many directors who want to speak out about the problems, but when you speak out they fire you or suspend you, or transfer you.
“This is not the country we envisioned when we passed the 1992 Constitution. Nana Akufo-Addo prides himself on being a human rights lawyer, but has become a democratic dictator,” Mahama said.
Furthermore, he regretted the direction in which the country is headed under the current government.
The NDC presidential candidate stated: “We need to make a change and therefore the former director ‘I congratulate you on your courage and I can assure you and I know that NDC is winning and when NDC wins, we will reinstate it in full.’
He added: “You are in another high school, but we will fully reinstate you and what you have lost, we will fully reward you.”
In October 2018, then-director of Tempane SHS, Dominic Ndegu Amolale was suspended pending investigations for a video that went viral on social media.
NDC National Organizer Joshua Akamba was caught inciting some school students against the government due to the challenges facing the implementation of the free SHS policy.
