The daughter of the former Ivory Coast president, Laurent Gbagbo, has revealed that she would not follow in her father’s footsteps.

In an interview in Joy FM’s Super morning showSaid Marie-Patrice Gbagbo, although her family likes politics, it is not something she would like to pursue.

“No. No. I will not get into politics. No, thank you,” he said openly.

She told host Benjamin Akakpo that her older brother, Michel Gbagbo, is the only one among seven children who is following in the former president’s footsteps.

“My older brother is still in Côte d’Ivoire. In fact, he has been elected in the last parliamentary elections as a deputy for one of the main cities of Abidjan, Yopougon, “he said.

In addition, he indicated that his twin sister, Marie-Laurence, is also a strong advocate for the same cause.

Relating her experience of living as the first family in the Ivory Coast, Marie-Patrice said that the family had to withdraw from all political activities.

“Always remember that you have to be discreet in what you do. Remember that you must not cause any scandal for the family. Always remember that family first, unity first, and family stability first, ”explained Marie-Patrice.

He further said that, although he stayed away from all political activities, the rest of the family did everything possible to support the former president and the former first lady in their duties.

“But we always make sure we are not out there. Growing up in a family like this, everyone is in favor of the course, ”he said.
