The president of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, has promised to be fair to all political parties and to guarantee a credible and transparent election on December 7.
According to the EC president, her Christian values prevent her from manipulating the election in favor of a particular party, adding that she will do everything in her power to maintain the credibility that Ghana’s electoral management body has achieved over the years. .
“I also have a duty to God and to our country to be an agent of peace. As head of the Elections Commission, the signals I send, whether to our staff or the public, are important as they would have an impact on the elections and on our nation.
“As a Christian, I am a firm believer in the principles that Christ upholds, Justice, Peace and Truth, I am committed to ensuring that these principles are reflected in everything that I and the commission do, I am committed to being fair in carrying out my activities without fear or favoritism.
“I promise to work and I assume my duties to ensure that it is the will of the people that is the will of God that is maintained, as an agent of peace I commit myself to the truth and not to alter the will of God. The responsibility rests with me to fulfill this principle and as God is my guide and helper. I am sure I will not leave him or the people of Ghana in the name of Jesus, ”Madam Mensa said on Sunday.
The EC president’s comments come days after Mahama interrupted his campaign tour of the Bono region on Tuesday due to “increasing reports of challenges with voter registration and the display process” he received.
The display exercise has been plagued with some anomalies, such as name duplication, missing names and similar serial numbers for different voters, about which the former president and the NDC have expressed their doubts.
