The defeated MP from the Madina constituency, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, has indicated that he has aborted his earlier plan to challenge the results of the parliamentary elections in which he was ousted by the Democratic National Congress candidate.
Voters in Medina voted against the incumbent deputy, denying him a second term on Monday, December 7.
NDC attorney Francis Xavier-Sosu won the seat with 62,127 votes against Saddique Boniface, who had 46,785.
Speaking in an interview on Citi TV monitored by GhanaWeb, he revealed that he has admitted defeat and will no longer dispute the result in court.
“Some of us have accepted it in good faith. I thought about taking it to court, but have decided not to. I believe in the principle that elections are won at the polling stations. The people who were supposed to be endowed refused to do so and thought they were hurting me. But they have forgotten that when a vehicle is involved in an accident, the amount of injuries differs from one person to another, “he said.
The Member of Parliament serving as Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office believes that his good deeds in his constituency speak for themselves and prayed that the deputy-elect could fit into his shoes as his achievements were unprecedented.
“Check all the MPs in Greater Accra and see the level of development that I brought to Medina, but today I pray that we will have another MP who can do the same,” he added.
