The Rev. Oscar Christian Amoah, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has assured members of the Church that he will be a faithful pastor and a good servant of God.
He said that he would also work hard to strengthen the Diocese of Kumasi and the Church as a whole.
Rt. Reverend Amoah gave the guarantee at his enthronement service at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Cathedral in Fante New Town in Kumasi.
He is the fourth Anglican bishop of Kumasi and succeeded the Rev. Bishop Yinkah Sarfo, who retired from active service on February 14 this year.
Rt. Rev Amoah thanked members of the Church for their support and promised to respect, maintain, and defend their rights, privileges, and freedoms.
He promised to rule with truth, justice and charity, showing himself, in everything, as an example for the flock.
“I render due canonical obedience to the Archbishop of West Africa in all that is legal and honest,” he said.
Most Reverend Major Charles Kwesi Affaine (Rtd), who officiated, urged Rt. Rev Amoah to watch over the flock of which God had appointed him as senior pastor.
He urged him to encourage the faithful, restore the lost, and build up the body of Christ.
Rt. Rev. Amoah, 63, obtained a BA (Hons) from the University of Ghana and proceeded to obtain a Diploma in Theology from Saint Nicholas Seminary.
He earned his postgraduate degree in education from the University of Cape Coast and served as principal of the Sefwi Wiawso College of Education, prior to his appointment as dean of the Anglican Cathedral of Kumasi.
