Deputy for the Binduri constituency, Mr. Abdulai Abanga Deputy for the Binduri constituency, Mr. Abdulai Abanga

Abdulai Abanga, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Binduri constituency, has said that he was surprised when he received the message that he was the only New Patriotic Party (PNP) candidate in the Upper East region who won the elections.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Abanga said that in the 7th Parliament the PNP had three deputies from the Upper East region, but that did not happen in the 8th Parliament, only one.

“In the seventh parliament we had the electoral districts Navrongo Central, Bawku West and Tempane, but in this eighth parliament the table has been rejected.

“For now I am more or less representing the Upper East people on the Government side, since the other MPs from other districts come from the Democratic National Congress (NDC).

“So on the government side I will have to represent the entire Region because my Party is in government and that decision is made in parliament, and also the decisions are made by the government in terms of development, so I will have to be the Upper East people spokesperson at NPP, ”he explained.

Mr. Abanga stated that he had a difficult task ahead of him as the only NPP deputy in the Region, so he would do everything possible to make his Region proud.

“It will not be easy as the only PNP deputy in the Region. I also have to try as much as possible to visit various places so that they assess me with what is happening there and then I can speak for them if I have to speak for them. “

Commenting on her relationship with NDC deputies from the Upper East region, Mr. Abanga described her as cordial.

“But there is no doubt that I have a good relationship with other parliamentarians even though they come from another Party and I know that they are all people who are interested in the development of their communities, so working together with those parliamentarians I am sure that together we will promote the development of the Region ”, he said.
