Bawku Central lawmaker Mahama Ayariga has said he has not spoken to former special counsel Martin Amidu about his resignation.
He said that he knows the character and personality of Mr. Amidu very well and has therefore decided not to speak to him on this matter.
Amidu has described Mahama Ayariga as his son following claims by Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong that his fellow legislator and former Minister of Youth and Sports Ayariga has medical records on Amidu, he claims Amidu has undone.
Mr. Amidu, who dragged Mahama Ayariga to court this year when he was the Special Prosecutor, told Umaru Sanda in an interview that “Mahama Ayariga is my son, against whom I incidentally had to conduct an investigation for public service reasons. ”.
“Mahama Ayariga will tell the public that she has no medical history on my visit to Germany.”
Mahama Ayariga later denied possessing Mr. Amidu’s medical records.
Speaking in an interview with TV3’s Komla Kluste about Mr. Amidu’s resignation on Tuesday, November 24, Mr. Ayariga said: “We didn’t name him, they (the NPP administration) named him.”
“They thought he was competent and capable and they gave him all the credibility he has, they called him a vigilante of the citizens because they thought he was going to the NDC government at that time.”
“So if he says today that he has problems with them, it is not the fault of the NDC. He has given the problems that led to his resignation.”
When asked if he had spoken to him after leaving office, he said: “I have not done so since the case started, I have not tried to speak to him personally because I know his character, I have known him for a long time. I know his character, so I have not spoken to him.
The first occupant of the Special Prosecutor’s Office resigned from his position on Monday, November 16, citing a number of reasons.
“The events of November 12, 2020 removed me the only protection I had against the threats and plans that were directed at me to carry out the anti-corruption evaluation report of Agyapa Royalties Limited Transactions and dictate that I resign as Special Prosecutor immediately,” he had stated in his resignation letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“I should not normally be announcing my resignation to the public myself, but the traumatic experience that I went through from October 20, 2020 to November 2, 2020, when I conveyed in a thirteen (13) page letter the conclusions and observations on The risk analysis of the Corruption and Anti-Corruption Assessment in the Agyapa Limited Royalty Transaction Report and other related matters to the President as President of the National Security Council advises against not submitting my resignation as Special Prosecutor immediately upon notification from the public of Ghana and the world. “
