Alhaji Mohammed Issifu Pangadu, a former member of parliament for the Democratic National Congress for the Ejura Sekyeredumase constituency in the Ashanti region, says he is coming under fire for praising the positive impact of President Akufo’s Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative. Addo.
According to him, members of his party do not agree with this public praise of the policies of an opposition party.
“When I was in Parliament, although both the NDC and the NPP or the majority and minority disagree on many issues when it comes to national development issues, we built a consensus in the interest of Ghana. Why should I have a problem with the testimony of a former NDC member of parliament who is benefiting from the good intervention of the PNP? “Pandagu interrogated.
He said Ghana’s problem is dishonesty and hypocrisy.
Pandagu claimed that without the support of the government through Planting for Food and Jobs, his life after being a member of parliament would have been unbearable.
Speaking at the commissioning of an improved 100,000 capacity fertilizer and seed depot built by a private agrochemical dealer RansBoat Company Ltd, Pandagu called on Ghanaians to avoid partisan politics and support initiatives that alleviate the plight of the people.
“Both NDC and NPP are beneficiaries of subsidized fertilizers and improved seeds. It has improved farmers’ yields and I have benefited greatly. I am Muslim, so if I stand anywhere and give false testimony about it, Allah will punish me, ”said former NDC deputy Pandagu.
He urged Ghanaians to take advantage of the intervention and venture into agriculture.
Teddy Adei, general manager of RansBoat Company Ltd, agrochemical distributors and poultry farms, said their supply chain has closed the gap in the accessibility of agricultural inputs by farmers in rural areas that in the past have impeded the productivity.
According to Teddy Adei, RansBoat built the 100,000 capacity warehouse to store excess inputs and avoid the acute shortage of agricultural inputs that plagues agriculture in rural Ghana.
The fertilizer warehouse, which is the largest private warehouse in the country, aims to ensure the continuous supply of agricultural inputs to farmers.
RansBoat Company Ltd has asked the government to increase its supply allocation under the food and jobs plantation as it has the capacity to supply the entire country.
Currently, the supply of agricultural inputs under the Sowing for food and employment has been assigned to private distributors of agrochemicals.
However, many farmers still complain of a severe shortage, but RansBoat says it has the ability to supply almost the entire country on time if the government increases the allocation.
Teddy Adei wants the government to lower taxes on the importation of battery cage equipment to allow local poultry farmers to mechanize their farms to increase food raising and government jobs.
He added that RansBoat currently has 64,000 layers and intends to start 100,000 chickens by next year.
Its goal is to produce 120,000 metric tons of processed poultry annually to reduce the import of poultry into Ghana.
Eastern Region Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour praised RansBoat for its dedication to the agricultural sector.
He said the 100,000 capacity fertilizer depot would help ensure a steady supply of inputs to farmers and promote the government’s goal of making agricultural inputs available and accessible to all.
However, he expressed concern about the continued activities of illegal miners and sand winners in the Eastern Region that pose a threat to the success of Sowing for Food and Jobs.
He said that these illegal miners, who come armed to the teeth, enter the farms at night and cause devastation.
According to Mr. Kwakye Darfour, the Regional Security Council is working to end activities that inhibit the progress of planting for food and employment.
