Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, the petitioner’s third witness in the current electoral petition hearing, told the Supreme Court that he was fired from the Electoral Commission’s national collation center.
Mr. Mettle-Nunoo, one of the petitioner’s two agents in the EC security room, is being questioned by the defendants’ lawyers at the ongoing electoral petition hearing.
During cross-examination by EC attorney Justin Amenuvor, the witness told the court that he had left the strong chamber twice during his stay at EC’s premises, but did not say which official specifically kicked him out of the room.
According to him, “I left the strong room when the CE fired me from the strong room. That was the first time I left the room. The CE fired me from the strong room. It has never happened before. In previous elections I was there for 72 hours.
“I left the room strong a second time to seek an audience with the electoral commissioner. It was somewhere between 3 o’clock and 4 o’clock, ”he added.
The cross-examination of the EC attorney lasted more than an hour and sought to obtain answers to a variety of questions, from Rojo’s knowledge of electoral laws and his experiences in the strong room as an official protecting the interests of the petitioner.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has filed a petition challenging the December 2020 presidential elections as stated by the EC President.
