President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that he is honored by the renewal of his term to continue his second and final term as president by the decisive majority of Ghanaians.
He said that the renewal of his mandate places a great responsibility on him, adding that on such occasions the best thing that could be said and done was to do his best as a Christian guided by almighty God and the teachings of Holy Scripture.
President Akufo-Addo made this statement when the President and members of the Seventh Council of State of the Republic presented their third and final report to him at the Jubilee House in Accra today (December 30, 2020).
The 49-page report presented by the led council of Nana Otuo Siriboe II covers the period from March 2019 to December 2020.
It has an executive summary, a section one that deals with where the council derives its mandate, a section two that deals with the modus operandi of the council and the third section that covers the activities of the council. Section five deals with the conclusions and projections and section five has the report’s appendix.

Referring to his re-election, President Akufo-Addo noted that the decisive renewal of his term imposes more responsibility to do the best he can.
“That is the assurance I want to give you and the people of Ghana that I will continue to perform my duties to the best of my ability and I hope that by doing so I will meet the expectations of the people of Ghana,” said the President. Akufo-Addo said.
Praise
President Akufo-Addo thanked the councilors very much “not only for the quality of the work that the council has exhibited in these four years but also for the fidelity with which they have fulfilled their duty and their oath as members of the council of state” .
He explained that there was never a time when he sought the advice, opinions, importance of the council of state in which he found any doubt on their part or inability to help him.
“I am extremely fortunate as president to have been very lucky in the way this council of state interacted with me and the presidency. Therefore, I am very grateful for the cooperation that the council has provided, ”said the president.
Report
Upon receiving the report, he said that he had read the previous report regularly and assured that he would do the same with the third, which continues to contain many suggestions that could improve the governance of the country.
President Akufo-Addo expressed the conviction that the main function of the council was to suggest to the different branches of government and institutions of the country measures, policies and programs that can improve the quality of the country’s governance, noting that “so far in As for me, you have performed your duties admirably ”.
“I would like to record that the work of this council has been excellent and people have had all their money worth their presence in the institutional structure and makeup of our state and in the way they have approached their work.
New advice
President Akufo-Addo hinted that when things calm down, he will form a new council and some of the old members could be retained, although some of the appointments will depend on elections.
“It wouldn’t seem bad to me if several of you reappeared in the new council that was to become. I will find it comforting, ”he said.
Members of the Council of State
The Council of State is a body of twenty-five members. Its membership as provided by article 89 (2) of the 1992 Constitution consists of;
(a) A person who has previously held the position of:
me. President of the Supreme Court;
ii. Chief of the Defense Staff of the Ghanaian Armed Forces;
iii. Inspector General of Police,
(second) The president of the National House of Chiefs
(C) One representative from each region of Ghana elected, in accordance with the regulations drawn up by the Electoral Commission in accordance with article 51 of the 1992 Constitution, by an electoral college composed of two representatives from each of the districts of the region designated by the District Assemblies of the regions;
(re) Eleven (11) members appointed by the President.
The Council is headed by a President who is elected from among its members.
