Huawei rewards the ambassadors of the ICT academy

Huawei Technologies Ghana has awarded deserving members of the Huawei ICT Academy Ambassador Program in the country for supporting and facilitating the training of more than 2,000 university students at the Huawei ICT Academy in Ghana this year.

The world’s leading ICT company introduced the Huawei Ambassador Program to serve as the student wing of the Huawei ICT Academy initiative and the program was launched in Ghana last year.

Through the Campus Ambassador Program, Huawei identifies and selects enthusiastic tertiary students who are passionate about ICT to undertake various activities that help prepare ICT talents in the various Huawei-authorized ICT Academies.

This year Ambassador with the help of Huawei certified instructors and student ambassadors, Huawei has successfully trained more than 2,000 students through its ‘Study at Home’ online learning initiative and has registered more than 1,000 passes despite of the Covid-19 pandemic that stopped most Academic activities.

Speaking at the National Virtual Campus Ambassador Awards Ceremony, Huawei Ghana Deputy Managing Director Kweku Essuman Quansah applauded the ambassadors for their hard work and dedication to developing the ICT talent pool in Ghana.

“We hope that they will be not only ambassadors for Huawei, but also ICT ambassadors for Ghana, who will work hard to ensure the continued growth of information and communication technology literacy in Ghana to help accelerate economic development,” he added. .

Presenting awards to some recipients, KNUST’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Dean Dr. Abdul-Rahman Ahmed thanked Huawei for its keen interest in training more talents in Ghana through academic ICT partnerships.

“The partnership with Huawei is excellent and as such KNUST hopes to take it to a higher level in attempting to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions to achieve a win-win situation,” he added.

Dr. Jamal Abdulai, Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Ghana congratulated the award winners for their success and stated that the University of Ghana will exceed its target next year as they aim to institutionalize the ICT Academy Huawei at his school.

This year, Huawei awarded more than 30 ambassadors and 2 instructors at five universities in Ghana, namely Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Ghana, Ghana University of Communications Technology, University Koforidua Technique (KTU) and Regent University of Sciences. and Technology for their tremendous support.

Some of the prizes received include Huawei Nova 7i, Huawei Nova 5T, Huawei Y9 Prime, vouchers worth ¢ 1,000 and Huawei Y6P phones among others.
