How will Barcelona line up against Juventus?

Barcelona play their second game of the new season’s Champions League group stage on Wednesday against Juventus in Turin.

It promises to be a tough test for Ronald Koeman’s team and the visitors will miss out on a couple of key players for the trip to Italy.

Let’s see who could start:

There is no Gerard Piqué for Wednesday’s trip after he was last sent off in the Champions League in the win over Ferencvaros.

Ronald Araujo will replace 33-year-old central defender and teammate Clement Lenglet, and there could be more changes on the baseline as well.

There are some doubts about Jordi Alba since he only returned from an injury against Real Madrid and he may not be quite ready to play two games in such a short time.

Sergi Roberto could return as a right back if that is the case with Sergino Dest returning to the left back position.

Sergio Busquets can fall to the east bench after a real stinky last time against Real Madrid. Miralem Pjanic started in the first group match against Ferencvaros and would surely enjoy facing his old team.

The 30-year-old enjoyed many successes with Juve and could thrive in Turin. Frenkie de Jong is another man who knows what it’s like to win against Juve in the Champions League. He was part of the Ajax team that eliminated the Turin giants in 2019.

Ronald Koeman will have to make changes to his attack with Philippe Coutinho out with a hamstring injury. Antoine Griezmann will await a recall after starting the last two games on the bench.

Young Pedri was the surprise name in the El Clásico starting eleven, but it remains to be seen if he will keep his place. Francisco Trincao, Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite are ready and waiting if Koeman needs it.

Possible XI: Net; Dest, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; Pjanic, De Jong; Dembélé, Messi, Ansu; Griezmann.
