Many took to social media to express their feelings about the 20-year-old’s misfortune against the English champions.
There was great disappointment for the Ghanaians when they saw poster boy Mohammed Kudus walk off the field after just nine minutes in Ajax’s Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.
Just scoring his debut goal for the Dutch giants over the weekend, the 20-year-old fell early in the game, grabbing his right leg.
After three minutes of treatment on the field, it became clear that his time in the match day one of Group D was up when he left the field and his place was taken by Quincy Promes.
After joining Ajax from Danish Nordsjaelland on a five-year deal in July, it didn’t take long for Kudus to announce his presence at the Johan Cruyff Arena, recording three assists and one goal in his first three competitive matches for the club. winning the Man of the Match Award in two of the games and becoming an instant fan favorite ahead of the Champions League debut on Wednesday.
On Sunday, he scored one and gave two assists to help Erik Ten Hag’s team beat Heerenveen 5-1 in the Eredivisie.
His good start to his Ajax career was as good as his early days with the Ghana national team, where he scored on his debut in a 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in November last year, earning the affection of Ghana fans.
His early substitution in Wednesday’s game, arguably the most important game of his young career, was certainly a huge disappointment to many around the world.
Many Ghanaians took to social media to share their reactions:

So Kudus can play four to five positions and doesn’t look at a rookie in any when he does. Interesting

Fabinho injured Kudus. Can we act like Liverpool fans and curse the Brazilian?

Big blow for Kudus. I had a good move early in the game and sadly had to leave the game due to injury. I hope it’s nothing bad. Very disappointing if you ask me. I hope you get better soon. I wanted to see him shine in front of a great club! More opportunities to come!

FurloughFC has managed to get rid of Kudus in the first ten minutes as it tried with James at the weekend.
