City Player Ratings
Steffen: Considering that Birmingham had so little of the ball, Steffen was surprisingly busy and had to make a few saves. A comfortable afternoon for the American stopper, who deserves more playing time in the next rounds. 7
Cancel: He has been arguably the most creative player this season besides De Bruyne and was advancing in central midfield at every opportunity. However, he spent too much of his half on the field unnecessarily losing possession. 6
Walker: He played as a right back or center back depending on where Cancelo was and how City was doing with the ball. Vocal in the defense organization and encouraging to see him pass the 90 minutes. 7
Days: Guardiola talked about how he can play three times a week before this one, so perhaps it shouldn’t have been a surprise to see him start. A headlong thrust, but otherwise he did his job with a minimum of fuss. 7
Mendy: His first start since the turgid draw against West Brom last month and Birmingham enjoyed being behind him at times. He didn’t really step forward to get balls into the box, the strongest part of his game. 6
