Hearts of Oak suffered its first defeat of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season after losing 1-0 to Inter Allies at the Accra sports stadium.
Both teams were separated by a powerful volley from Richmond Lamptey in the second half, which turned out to be the difference.
Hearts entered the game having drawn against AshGold in their first game after missing so many key opportunities.
The Phobians started their second game on the same note they threatened against Inter Allies in the first half.
However, the lack of a powerful finisher proved once again to be Hearts’ undoing as they were punished after the hour mark.
Inter Allies midfielder Richmond Lamptey, against the run, controlled the ball and unleashed lightning from 25 yards to break the deadlock.
The last efforts of Nii Odoom’s men to save a point were rendered superfluous by the determined defense of the Inter Allies.
It is the first time that the Inter Allies have beaten Heart in two years, as the result leaves the Phobians in 17th place after playing one game less.
