The Tottenham manager believes he could have been included if the Frenchman compiled a better success record against him.
José Mourinho believes that Arsene Wenger did not mention him in his new autobiography because the former Arsenal manager did not hit him much during his career.
Wenger released his book “My Life in Red and White” this week, but did not mention the current Tottenham manager, against whom he often had a turbulent rivalry.
In a particularly infamous moment, Mourinho called the Frenchman a “fault specialist” in 2014 during his second spell at Chelsea.
Mourinho often outscored Wenger, with the Portuguese coach winning nine of the duo’s 19 meetings and Wenger only winning two.
On Friday, Mourinho was questioned at a press conference why he believed it was not mentioned in Wenger’s book, to which he replied: “Because he never beat me.
“You’re not going to do a chapter on 12 or 14 games and never win one, so why should he talk about me in his book? A book is something to make you happy, to make you proud, so I fully understand the situation. “
While in charge of Manchester United in 2018, Mourinho expressed some regret over the number of squabbles he had with Wenger.
“There were little things that it would obviously be better without: some gestures, some words,” Mourinho said.
“Obviously it’s better without. I feel better now without [insults]. When I came to England in 2004, they were champions and famous champions – the ‘Invincibles’.
“Then I arrive [at Chelsea], the following years he was with them [battles for the title].
“It was an incredible team. So thank you very much for that. They pushed us to the limit. The two games we played at Highbury, that amazing old stadium, were unforgettable. So thank you, thank you very much for that.”
Mourinho’s current Tottenham will face West Ham on Sunday, a match in which Gareth Bale could make his second Spurs debut after returning from Real Madrid.
“He is working very well, just evolution in all the data, in all aspects of his condition,” said Mourinho about the Welshman. “He’s there. He’ll probably play on Sunday, if he won’t on Thursday [in the Europa League versus LASK]. He is there. It’s very, very close. “
