It seems that Eden Hazard’s injury problems at Real Madrid will never end. Since returning from a serious ankle injury in February, the Belgian has been unable to make more than three straight appearances for Los Blancos.
Just three months into this season, Hazard has already been injured three times, bringing his total number of injuries since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to seven.
His last problem came when he limped off against Alavés. This follows two weeks on the sidelines after he tested positive for COVID-19. Along with two other hits this season, Hazard has only been able to appear in six of Real Madrid’s 14 games this season and has been out for a total of 70 days.
This is extremely frustrating for Hazard as he has been unable to regain his rhythm and reach his best form, something he has been desperate to do since moving to the Spanish capital.
His injury hoodoo appears to have continued from last season when he suffered four injuries, two of which were serious. He had a muscle problem before the start of LaLiga, followed by two serious ankle injuries and another minor problem after the return of the league. In total, it has not been available for 229 days, having played only 22 times.
Hazard was looking for playtime to catch up and it seems like that will never come. The situation is turning into a real nightmare for both the player and the club. The images of him limping against Alavés have already become representative of his time at Real Madrid.
It remains to be seen how long the Belgian will be out this time and will have to undergo tests to determine the extent of the problem.
