Hazard, Carvajal, Marcelo … Real Madrid’s Forgotten Men – Ghana Latest football news, live scores, results

Zinedine Zidane seems to have almost two eleven separate starters at Real Madrid, one who plays and one who doesn’t.

In Zidane’s early days at the club, he loved rotating his team and would often call on his ‘Plan B’ side when things needed to change, but that now seems to be a thing of the past.

Almost half of the current squad (nine of the 22 players) have not reached 1,000 minutes played in the 37 games (3,360 minutes) that the team has played this season.

Dani Carvajal (945 ‘), Marcelo (838’), Rodrygo (819 ‘), Isco (731’), Eden Hazard (646 ‘), Mariano Díaz (535’), Eder Militao (469 ‘), Álvaro Odriozola (325 ‘) and Andriy Lunin (120’) make the list of players who have not reached 1,000 minutes.

Among this list are players who have been hampered by injury and others who have simply not been selected to play with the names featured on the list such as Hazard and Carvajal.

Martin Odegaard and Luka Jovic would surely also be on the list had they not been loaned out in January.

Odegaard had played 367 minutes so far and Jovic 208, who would surely have seen them added to this list, bringing the total to 11 players.

You could say that Zidane is playing the season with only 14 players, the only 14 who have exceeded the 1,000-minute barrier.
