Parliament Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu and ten other NDC MPs will be in court on Monday, January 4, 2021.

This follows a lawsuit against the 11 lawmakers by the state following a decision by the minority group to march on the Election Commission headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

The minority group headed by its leader, Iddrisu, had tried to storm the EC headquarters to petition on the results of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

However, on the way to the EC office in Ridge, a fight broke out when police personnel tried to prevent agitated MPs from passing past the Ridge Roundabout.

The MPs defied police orders who said they were not aware of any trips by the minority to the EC office.

They were subsequently sued for violating the 1994 Public Order Act (Law 491), Section 1 (1) and (2) and 9 (a) and are expected to appear before the Accra Circuit Court.

Ordained MPs are Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu, Asawase MP Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak; Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George; Yapei Kusawgu MP John Abdulai Jinapor; South Dayi MP Rockson Dafeamekpor and Kumbungu MP Ras Mubarak.

The others are Deputy Damongo, Adam Mutawakilu; Lower Deputy Manya Krobo, Ebenezer Terlabi; Pru East MP, Dr. Para Donkor; Sagnarigu MP; Alhaji ABA Fuseini and Juaboso MP, Kwabena Minta Akando.
