Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has admitted that he is probably not everyone’s favorite teammate.
The English international came at the right time with a € 87.00 million transfer to Man United from Leicester City in 2019.
After a troubled first season with ruthless ridicule from fans on social media and outspoken criticism from on-air experts, Maguire slowly proved his quality this season by helping the Red Devils to second place after 28 games of league.
“It is a great privilege; I feel very fortunate to be able to lead this club and be captain of this club. It is a great honor,” Maguire told UEFA.com
“I am doing everything I can to be a successful captain and obviously the main thing is to start lifting trophies and start winning football matches continuously and consistently.
“I demand a lot. I’m sure you could talk to a lot of players [and they’d tell you that] I’m noisy in the place, I’m noisy in the locker room, ”concluded the 28-year-old.
Next up for Maguire and his teammates is the visit of the mighty AC Milan for a first leg battle of the last 32 games in Europe on Thursday.
