Harry Kane suffers a new injury in England training to arouse new fitness fears

Harry Kane has given England a huge injury scare ahead of Sunday’s Wembley clash with Belgium.

The Tottenham forward has doubts for the Nations League encounter with the world’s highest-ranked team after complaining of muscle tension at the end of Saturday’s training session.

The England captain is understood to have stayed with Gareth Southgate’s squad, despite a request from the Spurs to return to the club for treatment.

Kane, 27, suffered a severe hamstring tear in January that would have put his participation in Euro 2020 in doubt if the coronavirus crisis had not forced UEFA to postpone the tournament for 12 months.

They were left out of Thursday’s 3-0 friendly win over Wales.

But Southgate wanted his number one striker to lead his attack against the high-flying Belgians and in Wednesday night’s clash against Denmark.

Kane has scored 32 goals in just 47 games for his country.

Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin marked his debut with a goal against the Welshman and is expected to replace Kane if he fails to do so.

Southgate praised the former Sheffield United player after he brought his excellent Premier League form to the international stage on Thursday.

“[He was] very good, he had an excellent presence, his careers are a threat, he presses well and he got his goal well, “the Tres Leones coach told ITV.

“I thought he could be very happy. I think he’s in great shape. He’s a complete center forward.

“I’ve always liked his game in general, but it’s the goals that are turning him into another level of player.”
