Inter fans had the first opportunity to get in touch with Achraf hakimi today, as the new Nerazzurri full-back chatted with his supporters via live chat. The young Moroccan discussed many topics, from the emotions when starting a new adventure in Milan to the heroes of his childhood. The chat, hosted live on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Inter TV, saw Nerazzurri fans act as the interviewers, submitting their own questions for the player to ask.
Why did you choose Inter and what are you waiting for?
“I chose Inter because I think the coach’s style is similar to the way I play and that could be of great help to the team. We will try to get great results and of course we will try to win the Scudetto.”
What do you think of Antonio Conte?
“He is a great coach, with a really competitive mentality. He has a great passion for football and he gives it to the players, to the fans and to everyone at the Club. His motivation allows the team to be alive and animated in every game.” .
Are you the heir to Maicon?
“Maicon was an incredible winger, with a lot of physique. Obviously I would like to follow in his footsteps, but I hope to follow my own path and remember him as if he were in the hearts of the fans.”
He’s coming off a great season in the Bundesliga; How important was the experience and what differences do you expect from Serie A TIM?
“Playing in Germany allowed me to grow. I gained more confidence, experience and maturity. It was a great experience, now I hope to play in a more tactical league.”
Have you already been able to discover Milan?
“I haven’t been able to explore the city much yet. I’ve tried some good restaurants; I bet I’ll have time to get to know it. I’m sure I’ll like it.”
What has been the best moment of your career?
“Definitely when I won the Champions League with Real Madrid. It was something I dreamed of since I was a child. And the other was to be able to play a World Cup with Morocco.”
Who was your childhood hero?
“Definitely Marcelo, I say it over and over again. I have always liked the way he played, then I met him and I was able to appreciate even more his personality, his happiness on and off the court.”
In what position do you feel most comfortable?
“Definitely in the band, I feel better when I play open. I will always give 100%, no matter where I am playing.”
Do you like any sport other than soccer?
“I play paddle tennis with my friends from time to time, I also like basketball.”
You faced Inter at San Siro with Borussia Dortmund: how did that feel to you?
“It was a great experience; I could feel the fantastic atmosphere that the fans created. Now I can enjoy it in the home team.”
Which Inter player from the past did you admire?
“Samuel Eto’o, although I do not play in the same position as him, was a source of inspiration. He made history. I always liked how he lived for football and that he is also a symbol of Africa, my home.”
How will you adapt to Conte’s 3-5-2 formation?
“I will adapt well because we played in the same system in Dortmund last year. With the quality we have in this team, it will be even easier.”
Which Inter players do you know?
“Especially the ones who won the triples; there were many great champions on that team. But so many great players have worn this jersey.”
What did you think when you received the offer from Inter?
“I thought it could be a great opportunity to grow. The fans here live for football in a special way. I’m in a great Club.”
What team did you support as a child?
“I have always been a Real Madrid fan. I developed there, from the age of 7, I even played for them.”
What are your goals for the season?
“The objective is that of the team: winning the Scudetto is the main one, to give joy to the fans. Then, advance in the Champions League and do better than last season.”
Who is faster, you or Alphonso Davies?
“A good challenge! He’s very fast. I don’t know who would win between him and me. Certainly watching him play is incredible.”
Derby against AC Milan is coming up soon, what do you think of that?
“I just hope to win it, so that the fans can enjoy it. We want Milan to be black and blue.”
What is your message for the Inter fans?
“I’m here to give it my all. We are doing great things together and we will try to win a title or two!”
