Porcupine Warriors executive sheds light on his ambitions for Ghana’s next three Premier League seasons
Asante Kotoko’s board member Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi reveals that his ambition is to win the Ghana Premier League (GPL) successively.
The renowned businessman is part of a new 12-member board created to lead the club’s administration.
The Kumasi-based team, the most successful club in the history of the Premier League, celebrates its 85th anniversary on Monday.
Happy birthday, porcupine family🦔✌
Today is our day. Our ancestors had a vision that is why we can celebrate the largest soccer club on the continent; the legacy and history formed 85 years ago continue to grow.#AKSC #Stay safe #AriseLetsBuild #Kotoko@ 85 pic.twitter.com/O18MhLF8Ku

“That [winning titles] it’s the only way we can write our names in history books. So we are determined to make the club great again. At the end of our term, we would have achieved something very unique, “Gyamfi told Daily Graphic.
“We have our reputation at stake and we want to succeed, so we will tighten the screws and do things that will elevate the image of the club.”
“You see that Kotoko fans only need one thing, to win, and to win, you need good players and you also need to motivate them. The motivation of the players is very important.
“We will make sure that the right thing is done to project the club’s image and then make the fans happy. So we will do whatever we have to do to win the league continuously for about three years and if we can win the African Trophy , the emotion will come “.
Kotoko has won the league title 23 times, four more than archrivals Hearts of Oak. However, his last league title came six years ago.
The Porcupine Warriors have also won the Ghana FA Cup nine times.
“Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in Ghana, without a doubt. And for me, it is the third largest club in Africa, in structure. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for its content, “said new CEO Nana Yaa Amponsah in her presentation earlier this month.
“I am here to help the board and the entire Kotoko fraternity combine this superstructure with the appropriate content.
“I dare say that Asante Kotoko is bigger than [Ghana’s two main political parties] CN [New Patriotic Party] and NDC [National Democratic Congress]. Kotoko transcends borders. Kotoko is a culture.
“The joy this club brings to its many supporters cannot be matched by any political party in Ghana.
“Therefore, I beg you to give me twice the support that you give to your individual political parties of choice, and we will make Asante Kotoko great again.
“I will make sure that Kotoko participates in the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Kotoko has also won the Caf Champions League twice.
The GPL 2020-21 is expected to start in October.
