The Porcupine Warriors left Sogakope with a point in Sunday’s visit to the Wafa sports complex

Asante Kotoko and Wafa each took a point in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League match after a 1-1 draw in Sogakope.

Host Wafa took a lead in the first half through Daniel Agbloe Lomotey, but Kwame Opoku answered for the Porcupine Warriors after the break to share the spoils in matchday nine.

By the result, Kotoko ranks sixth in the league table, one point behind Wafa, who has 14 points to his name.

Wafa broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when Lomotey pounced on a loose ball inside the box to unleash a shot that passed Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora, who was facing his former club.

In the 68th minute, Opoku restored parity at the Wafa Sports Complex, receiving a direct pass into the box and placing the ball in the lower left corner of the net.

The goal was Opoku’s sixth goal in seven league appearances for Kotoko so far this season.

Elsewhere in the GPL, Karela United gave Berekum Chelsea a 4-1 loss to regain top spot.

Diawisie Taylor and Kwame Boateng each scored twice for the hosts while visiting Chelsea, a spot above the relegation zone, recorded a consolation through Joshua Gyan Andoh.

Ashanti Gold sits second on the record following their goalless draw with ninth-ranked Medeama at Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

In Dormaa, goals from Yahaya Mohammed and Fatawu Abdul Rahman secured the Aduana Stars 2-1 victory over Legon Cities, which they scored through Francis Addo. Customs is in seventh place, while Legon is last on the table, having won just one game so far.

Issah Ibrahim’s equalizing goal in the 73rd minute saw Dreams FC visit Bechem United in a 1-1 draw at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Moro Salifu gave the hosts the lead in the 11th minute.

The result was no different when King Faisal welcomed Elmina Sharks for a showdown. It was the Sharks who scored first through James Bissue, but Toufic Razak’s hit at the hour mark avoided Faisal’s blush. Faisal is still stuck in the relegation zone while visitors sit higher up in eleventh place.

In Sunday’s final game, a late kickoff: Hearts of Oak and Eleven Wonders will go head to head at Accra Sports Stadium.
