The minority in parliament has accused the Akufo-Addo government of using the funds raised in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to enrich their cronies.

NDC MPs, for example, are questioning the award of the Covid-19 frontline healthcare worker insurance contract to Enterprise Life, a company owned by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta that alleges conflict of interest. .

They also question the award of the Covid-19 tests at Kotoka International Airport to a Frontiers Healthcare Services Limited that also subleases to the Noguchi Memorial Institute instead of going directly to Noguchi.

Addressing the media on Thursday, minority leader Haruna Iddrisu said that “our male issue in which we are asking the media to take an interest even in particular is the testing of passengers upon arrival at the international airport by Kotoka. It recalls that the minority expressed concern regarding the award of the contract to Frontiers Healthcare Services Limited.

“The company was registered on July 21, 2020, a few days after the start of its operations. The company we have investigated is owned by Healthcare Solutions Services Limited, which is owned by Peters Family Company Limited, also incorporated in 2020. Peters Family Company Limited is registered offshore in the Dominican Republic. Therefore, we do not want to believe that this could be another case of family and friends ”.

Mr. Iddrisu further asked “how was this contract awarded to charge $ 150 per passenger? What acquisition process was used. The Healthcare Solutions Services Limited company, the rule is that if it does not have a laboratory, it does not qualify for the purpose of performing these services. How come they were chosen for this purpose and are we looking for more and better details of the entity? “

“We are not just concerned about the poorly crafted plan they are using to cash in on poor travelers from Ghana who want to go home. But Frontiers Healthcare Services Limited’s inability to deliver the same services poor passengers in Ghana pay $ 150 for, ”he added.
