The government has begun a series of engagements with various stakeholders in the country to deliberate on measures to ensure the safety of people as part of a broader post-COVID-19 plan.

This was revealed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at the press conference on Thursday in Accra.

According to Mr. Nkrumah, “the government has begun a series of commitments with stakeholders to examine possible restrictive measures that will ensure the safety of citizens that allow a certain level of normalcy in daily activities.”

You will recall that since March 15, the Government of Ghana imposed and subsequently modified several restrictions aimed at protecting the population and at the same time allowing economic activities to continue.
.
“The government anticipates that in the coming weeks it will have to outline a gradual plan for the post-restriction era. In accordance with this, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has begun to engage with various stakeholders in security measures that can allow to alleviate the restrictions without compromising the health of the population, “he added.

There have been general concerns about the safety of people in the workplace amid an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

However, the Ofoase / Ayirebi legislator noted that “the government has already engaged with the Ghana Industries Association about possible measures for workplace safety.”

He also added that there have been a series of commitments with the educational community and the transport sector to ostensibly outline the measures that will guarantee the safety of students and users of public transport.

“The President has also begun to engage with the educational community in possible post-restriction measures that will allow schools to reopen while protecting students, teachers, and non-teaching staff.

“The President is very concerned about the state of millions of Ghanaian children whose education is now challenged due to restrictions and is examining what will be needed to ensure that learning and testing are not ultimately compromised. It has also been committed to the transportation sector on how to ensure greater compliance and safety in public transportation, “he said.
