President of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, Mr. Hans De Beer
All golfers, caddies, and media personnel who will participate in this year’s Gold Fields Professional Golfers Association (PGA) golf tournament have undergone COVID-19 testing prior to the start of the competition on Wednesday, November 25. 2020.
The president of the tournament’s organizing committee, Hans De Beer, said that the tests carried out by the organizers are part of a series of measures that have been put in place to ensure the success of this year’s championship.
De Beer further revealed that the use of face masks and social distancing protocols will also be strictly enforced for the duration of the tournament ending Saturday, November 28, 2020.
“Each and every person involved in the tournament, golfers and their caddies, the media, if they cannot show us their COVID-19 proof they will not be able to participate in the tournament,” De Beer said in an interview.
He added that there will also be a daily evaluation of COVID-19 symptoms during the tournament and in the event that someone tests positive, they and anyone they have been in contact with will be quickly isolated.
Still high standards
