The Ghana Education Campaigns Coalition (GNECC) urges all parents and guardians to ensure that they provide the necessary materials for their pupils to take the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Following the recent successful completion of the West African High School Certificate Exam (WASSCE) amid the Coronavirus pandemic, this year’s BECE also begins today, September 14, 2020.

In a press release, GNECC has praised candidates and professors for their efforts over the years to get here.

While encouraging all candidates writing the BECE to strive to strictly observe COVID-19 safety protocols and testing standards, GNECC has also charged parents to fulfill their duties in providing the necessary materials.

“The Coalition is also asking parents / guardians to provide the necessary materials (eg, nasal masks, disinfectant, pens, pencils, math game, etc.) for the candidate to write their exam smoothly. In addition, a favorable school environment must also be created for the candidate to write their papers, ”said a GNECC statement signed by the interim president of the board, Joseph Atsu Homadzi.

Additionally, the coalition is urging the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, the West African Examination Council (WAEC), and all other stakeholders to collaborate to implement an effective monitoring mechanism for a successful exam.
