With the popularity gained by the local textile and apparel industry in recent times, the task arises to elevate the industry to a more lucrative one.
With that mantra, the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) is interested in raising valuable Foreign Direct Investments for the industry through its upcoming Apparel and Textile Investment Meeting with the theme “The Future of Apparel and Textiles in Ghana’s Industrialization Campaign “.
The two-day virtual meeting, scheduled for the 4th and 5th November (10 am to 12 pm daily) will create a platform for the GIPC and key stakeholders from the textile and apparel industry, namely; the Ghana Garment Manufacturers Association (AGAM) and the Cotton Development Authority to discuss a plethora of industry-related topics.
Among the key topics to be discussed are industry knowledge and policies, the search for practical solutions to the particular challenges of Ghana’s textile and garment industry, as well as exploring the essence of the Free Area agreement. African Continental Trade for industry.
From an investment perspective, the Center will lead discussions on how to harness the enormous potential of the local apparel and textile industry to attract the necessary investment and financial support.
Speaking about the upcoming event, GIPC Executive Director Yofi Grant made reference to the fact that Ghana’s textile and clothing industry is old and has nascent potential for income generation and job creation and it is time to that significant funding be directed to industry.
