Giorgio Chiellini has admitted that he once wanted to slap Mario Balotelli when they were together in international service.
The pair have performed together for Italy in three major tournaments in the past, including Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.
But the famous soccer cheat Balotelli did not make a lasting impression on Chiellini, particularly in a tournament in the intervening years.
“Balotelli is a negative person without respect for the team,” Chiellini wrote in an upcoming autobiography, via The Reppublica .
“In 2013, in the Confederations Cup against Brazil, it didn’t help us at all. He deserved a slap in the face.”

Brescia striker Balotelli has developed a reputation as a lost talent as he has failed to make his mark on several major clubs, despite his potential.
He experienced a nearly four-year exodus from the national side after the 2014 World Cup, only getting one retirement in November 2018.
Chiellini retired in the same year, but he quickly reversed that decision and continues to be the captain of Italy now.
And the The Juventus defender revealed that Balotelli was not the only troubled player he encountered.
“[Former Juve teammate] Felipe Melo is even worse: the worst of the worst, “he added.” I can’t stand disrespectful people, those who always want to go against the grain. There was always a fight with him. I said to the coaches: It’s a bad apple.
“I no longer hold a grudge or worry about it, if I have to share something with them I will. I am not the best friend of all, but they are the only two who have exceeded an acceptable limit.”
“The problem is not if you play well or badly or if you have a bad day, but rather you lack respect and you have nothing inside. Once it is good, if it happens again, it is not.”
