The annual inflation rate for October fell slightly to 10.1% compared to 10.4% the previous month.

Monthly inflation between September 2020 and October 2020 was 0.2%, mainly driven by a monthly food inflation of 0.1%.

The month-on-month inflation rate of 0.2 percent indicates that on average prices are rising after two consecutive months of decline.

Professor Samuel Annim, the government statistician, said during a virtual press conference that the figures contrasted with the negative monthly inflation observed the previous month.

However, he said that 0.2 percent was still less than that seen before COVID-19 or in the month since COVID-19.

Inflation for food was 12.6% compared to 11.2% in September, while inflation for non-food products was 8.3% slightly lower than 9.8 in September with a variation of 4 ,3%.

The inflation rate for locally produced items was 12.3 percent compared to 5.1 percent for imported items, a difference of 7.1 percent.

Regionally, headline annual inflation ranged from 1.6% in the Upper West region to 15.2% in the Greater Accra region.

On average, rural areas showed a higher monthly inflation of 0.3% but a lower year-on-year inflation of 8.8% than urban areas of 0.2% monthly and 10.5% year-on-year. inflation.
