Member of the NDC Covid-19 management team, Prosper Bani.
A former chief of staff during the Mahama government said Ghana needs a well-structured Covid-19 management task force to beat the virus.
Prosper Bani, president of the Covid-19 Technical Team of the Democratic National Congress, said that a properly structured working group is what can save the country from further implications of the pandemic.
“Initially, the epicenter was only restricted to Accra, Kumasi and its surroundings, but today it has risen to the northern part of this country with Oti and other regions also having significant increases … This is because something is wrong, ” he said.
Speaking in the JoyNews Newsfile on Saturday, Bani indicated that the country needs to elevate the Covid-19 management process from a working group committee approach to a crisis management approach, with a clear command structure as in others. jurisdictions.
We need “a clearly defined crisis management team, institutions and facilities that confront the pandemic and a well-defined information center that will transmit information to citizens,” he said.
Prosper Bani said that Ghanaians “need to know who is in charge, so that every time we hear that voice we know that we are getting the correct and accurate numbers, data analysis and the impact of Covid-19 on people.”
According to him, the lack of implementation will lead to a defeated battle against the virus.

“This crisis will accompany us for a long time. In fact, during the president’s last broadcast, it was first noticed that he described the situation as a “war” situation. A war situation needs a war response.
“Of course we do not have the military in any battle with anyone, the pandemic if you consider it an enemy force, must be treated as an enemy,” he said.
Data on the rate of Covid-19 infections in Ghana shows that the case count in the country has peaked, said a senior Ghana Health Service (GHS) official.
GHS Director of Public Health Dr. Ebenezer Badu Sarkodie said Tuesday that the infection rate has not yet decreased, but this will only happen if the preventive protocol for the virus is followed.
Meanwhile, Ghana confirmed 921 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 4,012.
Bani blamed the government for the increase in cases.
He said the implications of the pandemic could have been minimized, but because of the government’s delay in making decisions on some issues.
“I would like to be upfront so we can do better. Managing this pandemic in Ghana can be better structured.
“The closing of the borders was delayed, opening up space for many more infected people from other jurisdictions to enter Ghana.
“Obviously, we are all aware of the processes that took place; quarantine, testing, and subsequently contact tracking.
“At that time, all crisis managers of this nature would have started projecting how these cases will increase, but we didn’t see any of those projections,” he said.
