Ghanaians will vote for freedom and security on December 7 – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that voters can cast their vote in peace, security and freedom on December 7.

Addressing the Chamber of Heads of the Bono Region on Thursday, President Akufo-Addo assured the Chamber of the “unconditional efforts that my Government and I will make to ensure the peace and stability of the nation, as we enter the last three months of the electoral campaign ”.

Ghana, according to the president, “has rightly earned a reputation for being the leader in democratic governance on the continent, a reputation that I am determined to uphold and indeed enhance before, during and after the 7 September elections. December”.

To this end, he called for the full collaboration and cooperation of the House of Chiefs of Bono and added that “we all have to work together to create the environment that will allow the people of Ghana to make their decision on December 7 in freedom, peace. and security. It is their right ”.

Appreciating the indispensable role played by chiefs in Ghana’s history and development, he explained that since his government took office in January 2017, many steps have been taken to strengthen the institution of chieftainship.

These include a 100% increase in quarterly budget support to Traditional Councils and Houses of Chiefs, and GH ¢ 3.5 million support for the completion of the new office complex of the National House of Chiefs headquarters in Kumasi .

In addition, President Akufo-Addo indicated the Government’s commitment to move rapidly to finalize the work of codifying the traditional norms and rules that have guided our communities throughout the centuries.

“The Ministry, in collaboration with the National House of Chiefs, has also begun the process of digitizing records from the National House of Chiefs, particularly the records in the National Chiefs Registry,” he added.

To address the challenges of headquarter disputes, President Akufo-Addo further revealed that “the government, through the Ministry of Headquarters and Religious Affairs, has arranged to provide the funds that will increase the number of sessions of the House Judicial Committees. Regionals to accelerate the adjudication of pending issues, in order to close many pending conflicts that continue to generate tension ”.

Again, to reduce conflict and establish areas of customary jurisdiction and loyalty, the Ministry of Headquarters, together with the National House of Chiefs, has delineated traditional areas of paramouncies.

The president also called on chiefs to help the government simplify land administration in the country, which will lead to a well-functioning and efficient regime of titling, boundary setting and property tracking.

“The Ministry of the Headquarters has also instituted a program to teach courses on the development of the Headquarters, which includes conferences, seminars and other activities, with the aim of developing the capacity of the Heads and of all people with interests in the institution of the Headquarters. I applaud this initiative ”, he added.
