The Plant Medicine Research Center (CPMR) has received more than 100 samples of traditional medicinal herbs to analyze treatment with COVID-19.
The samples according to the Executive Director of the facility, Dr. Kofi Bobi Barimah, were received from several herbalists across the country who are determined to create a much-needed remedy for the rapidly spreading pandemic.
“The President said that we should find a cure for COVID-19, so we are also doing our research. What we are doing is making sure we have treatment to treat the symptoms that come with COVID-19. We are also finding a way to boost the immune system, “he said.
He indicated that all samples submitted go through a detailed and exhaustive laboratory analysis to ensure that the product meets the highest quality.
“We want to make sure that the type of product we come up with is a good thing. Remember that we want to obtain the highest recognition and we do it with recognition with other people ”, he stated.
Meanwhile, there have been a growing number of concerns raised by some stakeholders to give Ghanaian herbal medicine a chance to find a cure for the disease.
This was after the Herbal Medicine Association in Ghana expressed concern over the government’s plans to receive an alleged Covid-19 herbal cure from Madagascar.
