Ghanaian and Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew announced on Sunday that he had tested positive for coronavirus and was currently in quarantine.
Ayew did not play for Palace in a 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Ayew wrote on Twitter that she “felt fine” and did not have any symptoms.
“Unfortunately, I have tested positive for Covid-19 and have started my quarantine in accordance with health guidelines,” he wrote.
“I will be cheering for the boys from home and hope to be back on the court soon. Stay safe, ”he added.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson confirmed that the 29-year-old tested positive after being off-duty for Ghana.
“Unfortunately, he tested positive on our last test on Friday for COVID. He had been away with Ghana, which we weren’t exactly thrilled to have, but we accepted that he had to, ”Hodgson said after Sunday’s game.
“Like many other Ghanaian players, I think, when they returned to their clubs, they also tested positive. And now we have to follow the guidelines before we see him again. “
Palace will play its next two away games against Fulham at Craven Cottage on October 24 and then against Wolves at Molineux on October 30.
