Ghanaian forward Elvis Manu scored a hat-trick for Bulgarian Ludogorets in their 4-3 loss to LASK Linz of the Austrian Bundesliga in the Europa League on Thursday.
Manu was the man of the moment for his team, but despite his painstaking display, Ludogorets did not score a single point from the Linzer Stadium in Austria.
The home team took an early lead in just two minutes through Balic and doubled their courtesy lead, Gruber, 9 minutes later.
On-fire Manu cut one for his team four minutes later, but LASK Linz restored their two-goal lead with just ten minutes to go.
Verdon’s own goal put an end to the visitors’ hopes, but Manu restored their hopes by reducing the score again with a good shot in the 67th minute.
Six minutes after scoring his second, Manu converted a beautiful penalty shot to cut the deficit, but the hosts held on to win the game 4-3.
His Ghanaian compatriot Bernard Tekpetey lasted the entire duration of the game for Ludogorets.
Manu has represented the Netherlands at all youth levels, from U16 to U21.
He changed his nationality to Ghana in 2015, but does not yet represent the West African nation.
