Dutch-born Brian Brobbey, of Ghanaian descent, made his debut for Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.
Brobbey jumped off the bench to record his first goal for Ajax’s senior team in their 5-2 home win over Fortuna Sittard at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
A first-half double from Davy Klaassen gave Ajax a comfortable 2-1 victory before half-time after their hero George Cox opened the door at minute 7.
The Amsterdam-born of Ghanaian descent was introduced in the 66th minute as a replacement for Lassina Traore.
After five minutes of his presentation, the 18-year-old recorded his name on the score sheet to extend the home side’s lead.
Two late penalty kicks awarded to Ajax were carefully converted by Dusan Tadic and Quincy Promes to propel them to a great victory despite a goal from George Cox in the 85th minute.
Brobbey rose through the ranks of Ajax since their acquisition in 2010, where he has played for their U19, U20 and 21 teams.
He is a younger brother of Dutch-born Derrick Luckassen, Kevin Luckassen and Samuel Brobbey of Ghanaian descent.
The burly forward was born to Ghanaian parents in the Netherlands, making him eligible to represent Ghana despite playing for the Netherlands at the U15, U16, U17 and U19 levels.
His current contract with Ajax Amsterdam will expire in the summer of 2021.
Brobbey has scored 81 goals and provided fifteen assists in his 98 appearances with the Ajax youth team and the Ajax senior team since 2010.
He has scored 26 goals in his 37 appearances for the Netherlands in the U15, U16, U17 and U19 categories.
