Ghanaian international Frank Acheampong had an excellent performance to keep Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League after leading Shenzhen Kaisa to a 1-1 draw, completing a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Teda entered the game at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center with a 2-0 lead courtesy of Acheampong’s double in the first leg.

John Murray fired at the locals ahead in the 28th minute and Teda went into halftime with no response.

Both teams reached the second half playing with great intensity, as Kaisa fought for the second goal to annul Teda’s 2-0 in the corresponding match.

Odil Akhmedov’s free kick was beautifully connected home by Felix Bastians for the equalizer in the 75th minute.

Teda by these results escaped relegation as it advanced to the next stage of the playoffs and Shenzhen Kaisa suffered demotion.

Team captain Frank Acheampong is excited for Teda’s survival.

“I am so happy to have escaped relegation, I have had incredible seasons with Teda and if the team is relegated, not in a moment I am the captain of this great club. I told my teammates that we could do it and I am glad I saved our beloved club. The fans, the management and everyone are happy and we are grateful to God ”.

Tianjin Teda is now waiting for his opponents for the playoff semifinals.
